Bisexual Youth Face Biggest Polysubstance Abuse Risk
A review of the 2015 CDC’s Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System showed that sexual minority youth faced significantly higher risk of polysubstance abuse than their heterosexual peers. Those at the highest recorded risk were bisexual youth.

Transgender Passport Page Regressed
The current administration, while not yet changing any policy, completely alerted the page on gender markers to say “sex” instead of gender… Among other regressive wording changes. While ultimately pointless, this move seems designed to frighten, confuse, and keep transgender people from exercising our full rights under the current policy—the same policy we fought for and won in 2010.

Incheon Queer Festival Derailed
Incheon, South Korea held its first Queer Cultural Festival… Or, well, it tried to. The event got interrupted and derailed as anti-LGBT protestors organized en masse and harassed attendees.

Study Finds Trans Male Teens the Highest Suicide Attempt Demographic
A new study from the American Academy of Pediatrics shows an alarmingly high rate of suicide attempts among transgender teens, particularly trans boys. 51 percent of transgender boys reported at least one attempt, the highest percentage of any gender identity group. The second highest was among nonbinary teens, nearly 42 percent. Among transgender girls, about 30 percent reported a suicide attempt. Data came from more than 120,000 adolescents, age 11 to 19, over three years, June 2012 to May 2015.

Invigorated and inspired by India’s recent ruling, a DJ in Singapore is changing their own colonial holdover law banning gay sex. Here’s the next international fight to watch!

“Transgender Trend” Stickers Pushed Onto Children, Retracted
An anti-trans group published and encouraged parents to use a sticker set for pencil cases. Because pushing an agenda on children is the thing they fear most, so makes total sense to do, themselves? Apparently, they realized this was a bad idea since it was retracted/discontinued a few days later.

Study Finds 1-In-10 Nine Year Olds Already LGBT+
In a pleasant but not wholly surprising turn of events, a study has found that by age 9, one in ten children already know they’re LGBT+, and self-identify as such.

Study Finds No Link Between Trans Rights, Bathroom Crimes
In a massive “no $#!%” moment, found that, over two years of transgender bathroom rights being legalized, cities that had legalized such things saw no change or difference in crime rates than similar size and demographic cities that had not. It’s almost like the two are entirely unrelated or something.

New York Fashion Week Sees All-Transgender Runway
Designer Marco Marco hired an all-transgender model lineup to debut his new collection. It was an awesome and refreshing event.

PrEP Access Spreading
A new research review shows an uptick to one in nine who could benefit from PrEP now having access. There’s still a long way to go, and disagreements about how to most wiggly boost accessibility, but it’s movement in the right direction.

Intersex Healthcare Guide Gaining Exposure
Lambda Legal and InterACT teamed up last month to make a healthcare guide for doctors and hospitals to more fairly treat intersex patients. A small, recent, but growing wave of small queer publications gave started sharing it, hopefully growing enough exposure for more mainstream publications to soon notice.
