William Placek

President and Facilitator

William has worked in the non-profit world for close to twenty years. During his tenure in his current job operating a medical/behavioral program for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, William has had the opportunity to develop his skills in making community connections and relying on them to help support his organizational mission. His expertise and training in fundraising, and his determination to help others makes him a perfect fit for his role with PFLAG Jersey Shore. William sits on the PFLAG Jersey Shore board in the role of Fundraising & Community Outreach Coordinator.

William joined PFLAG Jersey Shore in 2012 after the birth of his first son. William has always had a passion for helping families navigate the coming-out process in hopes of keeping families together. Finding PFLAG Jersey Shore, and learning about their vision and mission, seemed to be exactly what William was looking for and he quickly joined the board and jumped in with both feet. He now is the co-facilitator of our LGBTQ Toms River Support Meeting, and oversees fundraising & community outreach for the chapter. William is an avid LGBTQ activist, sits on the chapter’s Speaker’s Bureau to provide educational symposiums in the community, and connects with community leaders to promote the mission of PFLAG Jersey Shore. After Abby Maisonave’s successful years of leading PFLAG Jersey Shore conclude in September, William will step into the role of Interim President of the chapter.

William lives along the shore in New Jersey with his husband Charlie of 12 years, their 5-year-old son Jaxon, and their 2 ½-year-old son Grayson. When William is not working his full-time job or volunteering with PFLAG, he loves to spend time with his family at home or travelling to share new experiences with his two beautiful children.
